Do you prefer color or black and white photography?
I am doing a photography project, and I need to have two 11×14 images matted. I’ll either do a portrait of someone, a picture of an animal (maybe my dad’s iguana laying in the grass), children playing, or a ball flying through the air. I can’t decide which ones to do, or whether to do black and white or color, or maybe one of each? But if I do one of each, which would be better in which color?

Black and white hands down
well if you are doing a portrait of someone I definitely perfer black and white i think those kind of pictures always make the people look prettier. I like the idea of a ball falling through the air I think that is a good Idea and I would have the ball in the air and with like the top of a swing set in a corner and that one should be in colour
black and white!
While color shows more detail and can enhance, black and white is excellent for dramatic shots.Shoot your pics in both then decide.
Victoria,
Any of those can be a winner in color or B/W… it’s all matter of personal preference and the look you going for. B/W can give very dramatic looks to an otherwise bland picture just be playing with darkness levels. You can make your dad’s iguana look prehistoric just by zooming in the right way and being at the right level in the grass. Or how about the children playing with the ball and the iguana looking at them from a window? Lot’s of things you can do… be creative and enjoy
i love the depth that black and white has. it has this calming AWE effect that captures my attention every time. but color makes the photograph vibrant and eye catching from far away. it gives it its own personality in my view. both are equal in my eyes.
I usually prefer color because I think that it gives life to a picture. But if you are going for a dramatic photo then go with black and white.
