Brussels, officially the Brussels Region or Brussels-Capital Region[, is the de facto capital city of the European Union (EU) and the largest urban area in Belgium. It comprises 19 municipalities, including the City of Brussels proper, which is the constitutional capital of Belgium, the French Community of Belgium, as well as Flanders and the Flemish Community.

Since the end of the Second World War, Brussels has been a main centre for international politics. Its hosting of principal EU institutions as well as the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has made the city a polyglot home of numerous international organisations, politicians, diplomats and civil servants.

Although historically Dutch-speaking, Brussels became increasingly French-speaking over the 19th and 20th centuries. Today a majority of inhabitants are native French-speakers, although both languages have official status. Linguistic tensions remain, and the language laws of the municipalities surrounding Brussels are an issue of much controversy in Belgium.

Our city’s style is typical of the 19th and early 20th centuries, showing our re-interpretation of neo-classical, Beaux-Arts and Modern Style. Our main source of inspiration would be Paris, but we also took ideas from New York, Chicago, Vienna, London, Berlin, Brussels… We will post more videos as the city expands and changes. Enjoy! Additions to v6: fortifications, changes in color, several new buildings (factories, palaces), roads and lightning changes Warning: some of the viewers noted that it could remind of fascist or stalinist architecture. This is true in a sense because we wanted to build something monumental, but it should be noted that this project is just for fun and has absolutely NO political agenda.

Documentary film about the Brussels fire department, part 2 of 2 I made this film in 2003 and there was no way to get it back in higher quality. I apologise for this. Also many things may have changed in the Brussels fire dept since this film. There used to be music in this film but i prefered to remove it because the licence was doubtful. Length : about 2 hours Language : french !!! Longueur : environ 2 heures Langue : francais !!! Contenu : Départs, centre d’appel 100, casernes, exercices, interventions du SIAMU de Bruxelles (Belgique) ——————————- by Dirk Steinhardt – www.rescue911.de part1 www.youtube.com
