Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3ILMIQZ89OWK0 I was happy to find this case on Amazon. The only other place I found it was online at the flip store and it was $50 on that site. When it arrived, the first thing I did was a tissue test. Put some toilet paper inside and made sure there was no debris on the seal, then submerged it in the kitchen sink for a while. Tissue was dry, and so we were off to test this puppy in the pool at the YMCA. It worked great! I had to take the strap off of my flip for it to fit, but this case does come with a yellow strap that you can add to it. It floats, so no need for dive for your flip if you lose your grip. As another reviewer mentioned, make sure you have the right cam to fit this case. I see reviews of people that have bought the 1st gen watercase to fit the 2nd gen ultra hd’s and giving bad reviews. There is not a way to attach this to a tripod that I can tell, and the hinge at the bottom of the case prevents it from standing up on its own. You will need to capture footage with someone holding it, or find a clever way to prop it up. I think if you are dilligent about checking the seal with each use, your flip will be fine. It states in the instructions that even one grain of sand, or a single strand of hair can cause leaks. I am exicited for next summer to enjoy this in our backyard pool, and the water rides at Cedar Point!

This is a very good case – worked just fine, did not leak water and all buttons worked well. Have some great videos now. One thing – always make sure you get the correct case for your camcorder – there are several different types available.

I bought this with the intention of using this in snow instead of water. It’s nice because I can pull it out when its dumping and not have to worry about damaging my flip camera. The buttons are easy to function with your gloves on. I can pull it out, shoot some video, and toss it back in my pocket without worrying about getting the camera wet or taking off my gloves.

I purchased this case along with the Flip Ultra HD camera about a month ago in order to use it on vacation in the Caribbean. Both the camera and the case were easy to use… I read another user’s review that said that the wrist strap for the camera wouldn’t fit in the underwater case, so I didn’t even both attaching it. The camera fits perfectly into the case, and the case seals tightly and easily. All of the buttons on the case operate the camera with ease as if there was no barrier in between. My boyfriend and I used the camera underwater on several snorkeling adventures around Mexico, Honduras and Belize, and it worked great!! The images are all clear and the sound was incredible. Playing the videos back was like watching a show on the Discovery Channel (aside from our amateur videography skills!) , with the clear images, extreme detail, vivid colors and subtle underwater sounds of the water splashing and fish swimming by. We also were happy to keep the camera in the case during the whole trip (with the exception of taking it out to charge it) so that we could also use it by the pool, on kayaks and speed boats, and not worry about rainy weather. There were no issues with the camera or the case, no leaks at all, and we didn’t feel like we were being “extra careful” handling it. A great buy and we’ll use it in the future!

This housing works very good if you remain on, or very close to the surface. I just returned from a trip to Hawaii where I was snorkeling. The housing kept the camera dry to depths up to 30 ft, but as I descended beneath the surface (maybe 5 ft), the water pressure started depressing the review buttons. I was unable to take video, other that on the surface. The buttons for power and record require a firm depress to function as they should. The other buttons depress very easily. In my opinion, the housing should only have power and record button functionality, or make the other buttons just as hard to depress.
Other than the fact that you can’t take video below 3 ft, the housing worked very good. I was able to get good video of shallow reefs by keeping the camera at the surface. Additionally I had a lot of fun in the pool taking videos of the kids.

This is a compact, easy-to-use, bring the fun back to photography camera that provides Canon’s photo quality in a lower cost, compact build. A little bit bigger than the digital elphs, this camera still fits comfortably in a shirt or pant pocket.
The feature set is very basic, and nothing new. It has a “Face select” feature which lets you select which person you want to focus on in a group. On the dial it has four settings: Auto, Easy, Program and movie modes. The auto mode is just as with every other camera, the camera will select the settings it determines best, but you maintain control (if you care to select it) over the white balance and flash. Easy is the same as auto, except no options. Program gives you the option to select among several “scenes”: Portrait, Landscape, Night, Kids&Pets, and Indoor (buried in the menu you can also select lesser used scene settings like Beach, Long Shutter, and Fireworks).
The only negative I’ve encountered with the camera is the relatively slow processor. That is the power up time (the time between turning the camera on and taking the first picture) is average (about 2 seconds), however, the time between pictures is around 2 seconds without the flash to 4 seconds with the flash. If you envision having (or wanting) to take faster pictures, then this is not the camera for you. Similarly, if you want to have any control over settings (i.e. shutter speed if you want to take pictures of your running toddler) this is not the camera for you.
Bottom line:
Canon replaces control and feature selection for extreme ease-of-use. This camera is a solid option for the money, and in case you are considering the A3000 IS, this (the A3100) is well worth the extra $30 (better resolution and faster picture-to-picture time).
The picture quality is great, no blur and vivid colors.

My Canon S410 Powershot gave up the ghost, even after a trip back to Canon for repairs ($100, ouch). I was tired of not having a camera and this one crossed my path at the right time and I bought it after debating for months which camera to go with.
This is MUCH lighter than my Canon S410, and far sleeker — all the knobs and buttons and whatnot are smooth and out of the way. It won’t snag on things like the boxy S410 tended to do. This camera is as light as a plastic disposable camera. I remember my first digital camera back in 1999 which weighed a pound and then some.
The LCD screen is ENORMOUS compared to my old camera(s). It takes up almost the entire back of the camera body. Amazing. The controls are scrunched together compared to the S410 controls. Having had the S410 I was familiar with the Canon layout and the way the camera works, which was nice.
An earlier review mentioned that the startup time and the time between shots was long — I didn’t find that to be the case. It powers up almost instantly, and even taking photos at the largest image size the time between shots is only a second or two. My first digital camera would tend to “submarine” for six or seven seconds between shots!
Overall I’m VERY, VERY happy to have a camera that works again, and the cost wasn’t all that much, like half of what I paid five years ago for the S410. Half the cost, half the weight… I still daydream about getting a “real” camera, a digital SLR (DSLR) with a nice heavy L-series prime lens… but it wouldn’t fit in my pocket, would it?
Don’t hesitate — this is a beautiful little device, thoughtfully designed and nicely manufactured. If you’re traveling or if you’re a parent (or both) you know you simply cannot take too many photos. I bought a 4GB card for this, one of those little big-as-your-thumbnail chips, and even at the highest resolution the photos are about 2MB apiece, so you can shoot a lot of photos and never run out of space. Included with the camera was a cable to attach to a television, which I thought was a neat idea. I’ll have to play with that sometime.
My only caveat would be based on my experience having sent my S410 in for repair to Canon — for $100 the repair didn’t last long at all, I wonder if they just sent me a refurbished unit they had. Anyway, don’t DROP your camera and you won’t have to send it in to be repaired.

I bought this camera for my 80+ year old father. He loves it. I did my DD and this camera is rated in the top 5 according to independent laboratory testing. For the money, I wish I had bought this one rather than my Kodak!

It is well known that human perception of the image quality of a digital camera is influeneced by the price, build quality and overall the “coolness” factor…
Having a Canon 5D2 and some L glass I would try to judge it and give this camera a 4 stars for the quality of the image for such a good price. Try to bump a little the colors and sharpness and lower a little bit the contrast and you can get even better pictures. The only problem it may have is some softness in the left or right side of the image on wide setting, so check carefully, at this price range the quality control is to be desired.

This is our fourth digital camera in about 5 years. Each time we buy one the features are greatly expanded and the ease of use increases dramatically. We still have 2 of the other cameras and will continue to use them. However the Canon A 3100 IS will be the one that we carry with use for spur of the moment shots, the lite weight, ease of use, quality of photos, and low cost are the main reasons.
For the cost you can’t do better.
